Par Meredith Miller. 2023
In this inspiring parenting book, learn how to create space for your children to get to know God in a…
way that focuses on trust instead of a list of rigid rules. Most Christian parenting books are ready with exact practices every family should follow in order to raise obedient children. In this obedience-training model, faith is a wall, constructed brick by brick, as adults tell children what to believe and how to behave. But what if obedience is not the goal of Christian parenting? What if it&’s our job as parents to instead help our kids get to know God and discover that God can be trusted? And what if faith is not constructed brick by brick, but rather woven strand by strand? Much like a spider&’s web, in which anchor strands and internal threads combine to form a unique web, Woven can help children anchor to who God is and have faith practices that are rich, textured, and all their own. Kids need space to explore the Bible, ask big questions, and even change their understanding of God and faith along the way. With Woven, families can nurture the kind of faith that can flex and grow, be broken and repaired. This is the sort of faith that can stand up to the life a child will live, the doubts they will encounter, and the questions that will come up along the way. So many parents want to pass along their faith, but know that God is so much bigger than the list of do&’s and don&’ts they were taught about as children. They want to pass along a faith their child doesn&’t have to heal from. Woven is the guidebook parents have been looking for. With a deep reverence for scripture and suggested activities to help your family grow in faith together, Woven is for parents who want to go beyond a list of do&’s and don&’ts and pass along a resilient faith based on genuine love for and trust in God.God Calls Us to Do Hard Things: Lessons from the Alabama Wiregrass

one of the most prominent and essential voices regarding the truth of that day, and &“a must-read for those care about our nation&’s future&” (Congressman Eric Swalwell). Walking the halls of democracy as a Capitol Police officer, Harry Dunn was a man slowly experiencing an awakening. It sparked after the election of our first Black president. It grew as his belief in the bravery and honor of law enforcement was shaken by Ferguson and countless other cases of police brutality towards the Black community. It continued to burn brighter as he watched members of Congress, many of whom he had befriended, lose their way to partisanship, as political extremism intensified. And it exploded into a blaze when he fought side by side with his fellow officers on January 6th, when democracy and their lives were threatened.Standing My Ground is &“a powerful, patriotic tale – told with striking moral clarity&” (Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi) that provides a crucial, definitive firsthand account of what happened on that day our country was shocked to its core. But it will also share the story of a man who refused to stay quiet when he learned that some of the men and women he had risked his life protecting, who knew him by name, would deny the horrors they faced. That&’s when he chose to speak up and to seek out what his hero John Lewis once termed &“good trouble.&” Dunn&’s ongoing story as a witness willing to meaningfully engage with the media, lawmakers, and the public provides a backdrop for examining the political and racial divide in this country—one that we must overcome in order to demand accountability and preserve our precious democracy. This Dream Is Not for You: Learn to Live by Letting Go

encourages us to let go and surrender our lives to God in order to truly live. &“Follow your dreams&” is the self-help message of our day. In our schools and universities, media, and culture, and even in church, we are taught to dream big, work hard, and find true happiness in living our dreams. And so we spend our lives chasing. But as we chase our dreams, we can be met with exhaustion, anxiety, and disappointment. Our circumstances may put our dreams in jeopardy, or even deny them—and we&’re heartbroken. Or we achieve them and just want more. Wade Joye offers here a different way. Release your grip on your dreams and trust God with your whole life. Joye shows that by letting go we are freed from the pressure to secure some ideal, unattainable life, and instead become open to God and his plans. Living a life of daily surrender to God&’s purpose we begin to see glimpses of God in our present circumstance, as he shows us that he, more than anyone, can be trusted. With deep wisdom, frank teaching, and a pastor&’s heart, Wade guides readers step-by-step to the place of letting go, the place where we find real life.Living My Best Life, Hun: Following Your Dreams Is No Joke

Par Gaby Mahlberg, Thomas Munck. 2024
Building on the historical study of cultural translation, this volume brings together a range of case studies and fresh approaches…
to early modern intellectual history by scholars from across Europe reflecting on ideological and political change from c. 1600 to 1840.Translations played a crucial role in the transmission of political ideas across linguistic and cultural borders in early modern Europe. Yet intellectual historians have been slow to adopt the study of translations as an analytical tool for the understanding of such cultural transfers. Recently, a number of different approaches to transnational intellectual history have emerged, allowing historians of early modern Europe to draw on work not just in translation studies, literary studies, conceptual history, the history of political thought and the history of scholarship, but also in the history of print and its significance for cultural transfer. Thorough qualitative and quantitative analysis of texts in translation can place them more accurately in time and space. This book provides a better understanding of the extent to which ideas crossed linguistic and cultural divides, and how they were re-shaped in the process.Written in an accessible style, this volume is aimed at scholars in cognate disciplines as well as at postgraduate students. In 1701, Frederick I crowned himself the first King in Prussia. This title required a process of royal status construction…
in conjunction with other European rulers, and Frederick found his most willing partners in the English monarchy. This volume examines their ceremonial and military cooperation. Diplomatic ceremonial was the medium through which the English state and its representatives recognised the new royal rank of the Hohenzollern dynasty. In exchange, Frederick engaged in extensive military cooperation with the English in the War of the Spanish Succession. Yet English statesmen and diplomats also instrumentalised Anglo-Prussian relations for their own status production, furthering their careers and elevating their rank via the symbolic construction of Prussian royal dignity. This book investigates this reciprocal construction of status and rank, exploring the aims and actions of actors involved, and assessing the extent to which they succeeded. Consequently, this book represents an actor-centred work of ‘new diplomatic history’ that simultaneously reinterprets the reign of Frederick I and assesses a crucial yet understudied chapter in the rise of Prussia. This book will appeal to scholars and students of early modern diplomatic history, as well as general readers interested in the history of England and Prussia.Career Forward: Strategies from Women Who've Made It
